Importance of brand in red apple export to India
Demand for Turkish apples in India is very high at the moment. Alper Kerim, owner of Turkish apple exporter Demir Fresh Fruits feels that branding is very important when exporting apples to the Indian market: “We are working full speed as our brand DeBa is growing fast in India day by day. Red Delicious shipments have started and we will speed through to the end of the season. There is too much demand for our brand and company. I have no idea how the situation is for others. Branding is very important in India, because if your quality is sustainable and you’re giving good service all the time, your brand will become popular and in demand easily. It’s how we’ve been conducting business and we’re very satisfied with our sales to this region.”
Kerim feels that DFF has an advantage with both their brand as well as their packing ability. “Our new set-up packing facility contains the latest system in Turkey and is the biggest one. We can pack 50-60 containers per week. It is very hard to find this capacity in other facilities in our country. Our main target is India and AFL brought us in contact with many Indian partners. Most of them we worked with before, so we sat down with them to extend our operations with our valuable buyers. We have already made commitments for around 500 containers and we are still getting orders from India especially. Our target is to reach 800 containers shipped to India this season.”
