Eating vegetables rich in fiber and nutrients is important for human health. But is it really a good idea to eat them all at once?
In fact, it is not a good idea because overeating any type of vegetable can have side effects for some people.
Just as eating too much fat, sugar or sodium causes side effects such as diabetes, heart disease, etc., we should also be careful in eating vegetables because it has its own consequences.
According to the National Institutes of Health, you should get about 25 grams of fiber a day. One cup of vegetables (depending on the type of vegetable, of course) has an average of 8 grams of fiber, of which four cups is almost appropriate. A relatively small bowl is about the size of three to four cups.
Some of the vegetables that overeating has side effects are :
Canned vegetables
Vegetables have many properties, but when they are canned, their vitamin content decreases as salt, sugar, and preservatives are added, so avoid canned vegetables as much as possible.
Celery
Celery is a low-calorie, high-fiber vegetable that overuse can cause digestive problems and stomach upset. It has sometimes even been observed to cause hormonal disorders.
Brussels sprouts
Excessive consumption of Brussels sprouts may cause abdominal pain and bloating, and because it contains sugar, it is slow to digest and poorly digested, producing too much gas, which sulfate is responsible for the odor of these gases.
Spinach
Spinach is rich in vitamins A and C and has antioxidant properties, so it is one of the most useful vegetables for the body. If you consume inorganic spinach, the pesticides on it may still remain and enter the body, causing excessive side effects.
Bell pepper
Bell pepper is rich in water and belongs to the family of potatoes, tomatoes and eggplants. All of these vegetables contain solanine and high levels of this substance are known as a toxic alkaloid. If these vegetables are cooked, the toxins will be eliminated, but if eaten raw and too much on an empty stomach, it will cause stomach pain and digestive problems
Broccoli
Broccoli is rich in vitamins B, C and copper and also has high antioxidant properties, but in people with sensitive digestive tract, it will cause bloating. In this case, in addition to causing stomach upset and bloating, it also causes gas, so be sure to balance the consumption of broccoli and avoid consuming too much of it.
Does your skin turn orange?
This skin change is a side effect of eating too many vegetables!
Many vegetables contain carotenoids, and this orange-colored compound in plants can be very good for your eyesight, however, too much of this substance and its circulation in the blood may affect the color of the skin. This skin discoloration (turning the skin orange) is temporary and is not really harmful, it just has an unpleasant appearance.
